For many years, especially during the late 80's and early 90's, the Freaknik In Atlanta, Georgia brought in over 250,000 participants. It created enormous traffic gridlock and was considered the hot zone for hundreds of thousands of black college students who traveled from all across the country every April to Atlanta, Georgia. For many of those years, it lived up to its name. It was Freak-Nik! There were the wild parties on the street, the dancing, the traffic jams and of the kinds of things you might have witnessed in a Girls Gone Wild type video if they had existed back then.In fact so many came in 1992, Atlanta was brought to a standstill. It became an event that was heard about through out the world. It also received extra attention because it was also the headquarters of a famous 24 hour cable news station. In fact this month marks the 5th Anniversary of the death of Freaknik. In 2000 the event died while other spring break events took its place and have since become very popular in their own right. Black College Reunion in Daytona Beach, Florida, April 15-17, 2005, The Kappa Beach Party in Galveston Texas( April 15 -17, 2005) and newest spring break event The Miami Springfest hosted by P.Diddy in Miami, Florida(April 29- May 2, 2005) are all scheduled to take place this month. And each will bring in over 100,000 college students per event. Terrance Smith, CEO of http://www.blackbeachweek.com a website and newsletter which focuses on African American Spring Break events, explains that spring break events such as those named remain extremely popular because they a fill a cultural void that many of the traditional spring break events leave out. Smith also goes on to explain that "unlike the Freaknik event in Atlanta, spring break events of today offer a variety of things to do such as concerts, car shows, job searches and career development recruitment. They are also being backed by sponsors which was unheard of in the past". Smith predicts that spring break events will continue to grow and expand in different cities in future years..

3 Tips when Writing ArticlesDo you love to write? Do you want to put those writing skills to good use? Perhaps you want to see your name published whether it be in a newspaper, magazine, e-zine or other forms of publication. Here's 3 tips to start off your New Year. 1. BrainstormOnce you've decided what your writing is going to be about, brainstorm. Think of a new angle for your article. For example: If you're writing for your local newspaper about an author, don't necessarily write only the obvious details. Is there something about this author that makes them unique? What is so great about the book they've written, can you tie it with a current news event and or holiday?2. Removing the Fluff is a Must! When writing a first draft, it's expected to h ave at least some fluff. Fluff is words, sentences, certain aspects of your article that don't necessarily add to your article. An example would be: "I had no energy. My energy had been sucked out of me" Now that's not the great example, but you get the point. A good way to tell if you ave fluff is to put your article away for a while. Why? Because wen you leave your article for a bit, the next time you look over you'll see aspects of your article popping out. Certain words, facts and excess information that could easily be removed for a smooth flowing article. 3 fast tips that also apply are:	Editing- Proof read your articles and remember to use your spell checker. Grammar and spelling mistakes can easily turn your editor away.	Simple Language Structuring- You may be an expert in your field, but for others reading about your topic for the first time, your content should be simple. Make sure your sentences aren't run-ons. Are you teaching something? Break down aspects of your article into steps. This will ensure your reader understands your topic better.	Be careful of the word "the"- "The" is a common word that sometimes is repeated too many times in the article, causing your article to become repetitious. Use "the" repeatedly if you're trying to make a point. 3. PassionNo, I'm not talking about romance. Passion and excitement in your article. The topic that you choose to write about should excite you. It should be something you enjoy, something you love. If it's a topic you're not truly interested if, it's going to show in your writing. Especially if it's an article that you put together in 5 or so minute. Use words to "pump" up your article, actions, appeal to one's senses if it's about cooking. Have the reader become excited and motivated if it's a teaching article..

Is it possible for a comedian, comedy entertainer or humorous speaker to actually be addicted to the stage? Comedy guru Steve Roye points out some stunning similarities between an addict in search of a drug and a performer in search of stage time in a just released article entitled "Stage Addiction: Myth or Reality".Roye is quick to point out that unlike most addictions, stage addiction can have positive or negative ramifications, depending upon the skill level and expertise of the performer. "Drugs provide a 'high' for the user. A successful comedy show or presentation provides an extreme 'high' for the performer. Drug users are driven to get the 'fix' ? performers are driven to get stage time, which provides a very potent type of 'fix', even though no external chemical is involved. One of the significant differences between drug addiction and stage addiction is that a stage addict won't break into your house to get stage time."According to Roye, everyone craves attention, respect, admiration and acceptance ? all of which can be provided in huge doses from a superb performance on stage. These emotional attributes of live performing are extremely powerful and can keep even the most mediocre performers searching for stage time year after year. The article "Stage Addiction: Myth or Reality" is available for review now for free at: http://www.killerstandup.com/stage_addict.htm.Roye is a professional comedian, author and one of the world's leading experts on spoken comedy.
Recent studies show that gardening is still the fastest-growing hobby in the US, and wildflower seed gardening is one of the fastest-growing segments of the hobby.AmericanMeadows.com, a leading website for wildflower gardeners, has seen important growth ever since 2005 began. "Our traffic is up over 50% since the year began," says Ray Allen, who with his wife, Chy, founded AmericanMeadows over 20 years ago. The Allens founded the Vermont Wildflower Farm back in 1981 to share their hobby of wildflowers with others. (This summer the Wildflower Farm will be featured on HGTV.) Now, after that experience, the creation a national seed catalog, and finally, creating a handsome, seed-filled website under their "national" name, AmericanMeadows.com, the couple continues to enjoy introducing more and more gardeners to the easy care world of wildflower meadow gardening. And wildflower seeds is not all they offer now. "We added flower bulbs last fall, and now have a really unique list of summer-flowering bulbs to plant this spring," says Allen. "Of course, we have glads and dahlias, but we also have some of the hard-to-find species lilies that I think are really the world's most beautiful wildflowers," notes Allen. Allen also points out the flood of press reports now coming in from early spring bloom in the desert Southwest. "Even Death Valley is in bloom this spring, thanks to all the rain out there. This is going to be a very good year."Visit http://www.AmericanMeadows.com for wildflower seeds for all regions of North America, seeds of 80 individual wildflowers, plus a wide selection of summer-flowering bulbs for home gardens.American Meadows also sells what they call "Favorite Flower Packets" of wildflower seeds for .50 each, and less with quantity. Their forget-me-nots, daisies, poppies, and wildflower mix packets are favorites with realtors, banks, insurance companies, and other groups for use in spring promotions, employee meetings, and customer mailings. Many companies use the packets as giveaways for Earth Day, April 22..

When I had my first son I hadn't planned to go back to work. I suddenly had to return to the workforce when he was three months old. I was completely unprepared and my son went from an exclusively breastfeeding baby to a mostly formula baby within a short period of time. I learned a lot from my experience with him and was much more prepared when I had my daughter. I was able to exclusively breastfeed her and work full time. Because of what I went through, the emotions of trying to pump enough milk for the next day, I wanted to gather up all my tips and write them down for others to use. I hope that you find these tips helpful.1.	Plan ahead if possible. Get a freezer stash going before you go back to work.2.	Do not just pump at work. Pump at home on your days off and before and after work.3.	Pump while nursing. Pump on one side while nursing on the other.4.	Find a good place to pump, where you are comfortable and can relax.5.	Make sure everyone at work knows how important breastfeeding is and not to interrupt you.6.	Drink plenty of fluids through out the day. Drink a large glass of water about an hour before you are going to pump.7.	Use a good quality double breast pump like the Ameda Purely Yours.8.	If your supply is dwindling rent a hospital grade pump. 9.	Find other moms to talk to that are breastfeeding and pumping. 10.	Do not get discouraged if you don't pump a large volume at once. Most moms pump around three oz per pumping. 11.	Pump frequently. Pumping frequently is more important than how long you pump. 12.	Try to pump at least every three hours.13.	Pumping is NOT as efficient as nursing. Do not gauge your milk supply by how much you pump. Your baby will get more milk from nursing than you will make from pumping.14.	Before you nurse, relax and do a quick breast massage. This will help you get a better let down.15.	Any time you give your baby a bottle make sure you pump in place of that.16.	Nurse frequently at night or try reverse cycling. Reverse cycling is when baby nurses more at night than during the day.17.	Co-sleep with baby if you are comfortable so he can nurse more at night. Nursing at night will help your supply.18.	Try drinking Mothers Milk tea.19.	Eat a bowl of oatmeal in the morning. Oatmeal is really good for boosting milk supply.20.	Avoid giving bottle to baby before he is three weeks. 21.	Use a slow flow nipple for your bottles.22.	Find a day care provider that is a breastfeeding supporter. An uneducated day care provider can sabotage your success.23.	Take Fenugreek or Blessed Thistle24.	If you need to supplement when you are home use a Supplemental Nursing System.25.	Do not assume because baby is fussing it is your supply. Many times baby will fuss for other reasons.26.	When preparing bottles for day care, store them in three oz portions. Your baby will likely only need three oz at a time. If he needs more up it to four. 27.	Send small 2 oz bottles of breast milk for day care provider to give to baby if you will be picking him up soon. This way baby will be ready to nurse when you get him home.28.	Nurse on your lunch break if you can. 29.	Take picture of baby with you to work. Look at your baby when you are pumping. It will help with your let down.30.	Have a nurse in. On the weekend spend the entire weekend in bed with your baby and nurse as frequently as you can.31.	During pumping session, take a break when your milk stops flowing. Massage your breast and use nipple stimulation to get a second let down. You will usually get another oz or so if you can get a second let down.32.	Cut down on caffeine. Caffeine will hinder your supply33.	Don't do extreme dieting. Eat a healthy diet.34.	Contact a La Leche League Leader or lactation consultant for advice.35.	Avoid using bottles and pacifiers when you are home.36.	Try switch nursing when you are home. Nurse on one side then switch to the other when baby seems to be getting fussy. Switch sides two or three times while nursing.37.	Remind yourself of all the benefits your baby is getting and that it's worth it!38.	Keep your pump pre-assembled so that you can keep your pumping breaks shorter.39.	If your using a pump with horns put them in a Ziploc bag and store them in the freezer between pumpings. This way you can just wash them when you get home.40.	If you can, do paperwork while pumping. This way you can have more pumping breaks and you will relax more if you are not focused on pumping.41.	Don't watch the pump. Staring at the pump watching for milk will make your session more stressful. 42.	Adjust the suction controls, experiment with the speed and suction until you find what works best for you. 43.	Keep spare parts readily available for your pump so you don't have any emergencies.44.	If you own a hands free pump like whisperwear try pumping on the drive to work. 45.	Massage your breasts while you pump.46.	Pump in the morning. Your supply is best in the morning.47.	Bring a baby blanket or item of clothing that smells like baby. Use your senses to visualize your baby.48.	Close your eyes and picture baby nursing. 49.	Keep a back up pump at work or in your car in case you forget. The Avent Isis is affordable and a great pump to have for a backup.50.	Pat yourself on the back for giving your baby the best!.

How many times have you seen an article referring to SEO (search engine optimization) as a "Black Art" or "underhanded", "manipulative", "sleazy", "deceptive", "sneaky" etc?. I could go on and on but you get my drift. The thing is - our industry has a pitiful reputation which is being reinforced on a daily basis by the media and word of mouth. This realization hit me between the eyes recently when I read a comment in a search engine forum from an SEO who claimed he used his ethical SEO methods as a Unique Selling Point. Look what we've been reduced to - differentiating ourselves from the masses because we DON'T break the rules. What other industry could boast such a thing? Apart from the used car industry, I can't really think of any.So where did this nasty reputation come from and why has it been allowed to propogate? Well, it's mainly care of the hundreds of cowboys out there who decide one day they are online marketing experts, announce themselves as SEO's and set up a backyard biz, deciding (naively) that the fastest way to achieve high rankings is to break the rules, "crack" the search engine algorithms and undermine the search indexes by generating pages and pages of search engine spam. They do this by creating doorway pages designed for search engine spiders rather than humans, complete with hidden text, hidden links, cloaking and lots of other "tricks" they come across as they surf the Internet.Problem is these self-proclaimed experts don't bother to do their research and learn that such spamming techniques have long been ineffective. Nearly all the search engines these days have sophisticated methods of detecting and removing spam within days of receiving submissions. Penalties for spamming the search engines differ from engine to engine, but can range from being "red flagged" and put on a watch list, to being hit with a ranking penalty, to having your site permanently banned from their index (in severe cases). The type of scumbag SEO's that would play Russian Roulette with their client's web sites in this fashion are well-deserving of scorn. It can take months for search engines to lift such penalties, if they decide to at all. While ineffective, such search engine spamming techniques have defined the reputation of the search engine optimization industry to date. In turn, this reputation is eroding business for so-called "ethical" SEO's - a term I use loosely to describe SEO's that don't try to undermine the search engine indexes when optimizing web sites. Actually, I'm not really comfortable with the term "ethics" to describe SEO. Until the industry establishes and accepts a standardized Code of Practice, we are just measuring others by our own personal standards and a set of arbitrary rules. But the SEO's I'm talking about strive to keep search results as relevant as possible by revising the visible site content and following the guidelines set down by the search engines in the optimization process. Some SEO's call this "White Magic SEO" - a tongue in cheek response to the "Black Magic" jibes I guess. Not surprisingly, search engines have been reduced to lumping all SEO's into the "untrustworthy" basket. On their Webmaster Do's and Don'ts page (http://www.google.com/webmasters/dos.html), Google state: "Be very careful about allowing an individual consultant or company to 'optimize' your web site. Chances are they will engage in some of our "Don'ts" and end up hurting your site". Chances are? Sounds a bit presumptuous if you ask me. Likewise, at a recent search engine conference, a representative from AltaVista declared that "all SEO's could be described using four letter words". The typical Internet user can only come to the conclusion that, according to some very reliable sources, SEO's are not to be trusted - now how fair is that? So the main problem is - how do we address this reputation issue? Do we establish and agree on a standard Code of Practise as in development on sites such as the World Association of Internet Marketers (http://www.waim.org/ethics.html), SEO Consultants (http://www.seoconsultants.com/seo-code-of-ethics.htm) and SEO Pros (http://www.seopros.org/members/practices.htm)? Do we race around locating and reporting search engine spam in the hope of improving our reputation in the eyes of the search engines? Or do we simply follow our own set of standards and hope potential clients can come to their own untainted conclusions? Personally I'm looking forward to the day when I no longer detect immediate suspicion when I tell people I optimize web sites for a living..

Do you go through affiliate programs like most people go through pairs of socks? Many Internet marketers do. In fact, 97% of all Internet marketers never make a single cent advertising opportunities on the Internet. They jump from one opportunity to the next and never see results. If you want to break free from this cycle of failure-- if you want to earn a living off of your Internet ventures--continue reading. I will tell you exactly how you can earn money from any legitimate affiliate program. In order to get the most information from what I am about to explain to you, you must accept that these methods are not intended to be "secrets." These are scientifically-proven, best-practice methods that all top marketers use. If you want results, you will have to do and continue to do the following five things:1. Know your product. Do not advertise for a product or affiliate program that you are not currently using. I cannot even count the amount of affiliate programs and product offers I have rejected immediately from people who know very little about what they are actually promoting. If you want to make money selling a product or service, you have to use it, understand it, and be able to convince your prospects that they should own it. If you yourself do not believe in it-- because you have not even tried it--then you will have a hard time convincing anyone else it is worthwhile.2. Know your field. You must continually become more knowledgeable about the market in which you are selling your product or service. For instance, I try to read at least 50 pages on Internet marketing each day to complement the marketing I do. This keeps me learning about my field. The best part about this is that you can do it without spending any money at all. The Internet is loaded with free content sites where you can find free ebooks and special reports on any subject. The Internet is also loaded with affiliate program promoters who are out-selling you. Use google to find these sites and then reverse engineer them--pick apart the source code, page setup, and content layout to find out how you can become more like your competition who is outselling you. 3. Focus your efforts and limit your innovation. As much as "limiting your innovation" may go against your business instincts, it is an absolute must with a limited marketing budget. Figure out what works for you scientifically by measuring your advertising results. When you find something that works, stick with it. If you are getting traffic from reciprocal links, continue to build them. If you are getting constant sign-ups from your newsletter, improve your newsletter and order more leads. Do not stray far from your original plan. Preset the amount of innovative ideas you want to try out each night, but center your marketing efforts around getting better results from methods that have already worked for you.4. Spend money wisely. The Internet is loaded with scams and bad information. It is really easy to be tricked into blowing money on "get rich quick" schemes and information that you can find in free resources. I personally have spent thousands of dollars needlessly. But do not get me wrong; I am not saying there are no legitimate affiliate promotion services or information products out there: I am saying that the vast majority of them do not work as well as they say they do. So hold onto your cash. When you find a product that multiple people have personally recommended to you, then consider buying it. Otherwise, conserve your cash for purchasing services or products that will produce hard, definite results, such as email leads for your newsletter or phone leads you can contact personally to promote your program.5. Remember that your success is dependent on your choices and your work alone. If you get upset about not becoming successful with a specific affiliate program, do not blame the program--blame yourself. Do a thorough analysis of what you could be doing better and how you could be making quantitative progress every single day. There are people who do not pay any money at all for promotional services and yet are still able to make a living just from using free tools on the Internet. If they can do it, there is no reason at all why you cannot. Joining a marketing group or forum in your field will help you realize this reality. Seeing and talking to people who are succeeding in your field will remind you that it is entirely possible to make money online without having a million dollars to begin with. While there are some "secrets" to getting more sign-ups and site visitors, the bigger part of affiliate program marketing is following a sound business plan. If you keep the five concepts I have listed above central to your marketing campaign, you will not fail. But, if you continue to market sporadically--switching from product to product and method to method--you will never break out of that 97% who never make money.Copyright 2004 Isaiah Hull.

Michael Dunne has demystified the process with a free report that he is making available to help others get started. In Michael's own words "When I was trying to get started I was frustrated with the volume of information and ideas availble and the fact that no one source pulled them together cohesively for a beginner. Most of the information available is from people that want to sell you 'their' product. Most of the information available is written by programmers for programmers. I wanted to break it down simply for regular people.
Part 1Recently, in a women's therapy group that I run, the desire for fun and a change of pace over took me. I suggested that we deviate from some of our typical work and instead go around the room imagining a vacation treat designed to suit each woman's desires. It was fascinating to see how many marvelous vacation ideas quickly emerged. One woman wished to go to Mexico and South America to view the ruins and lie on the sun in beautiful beaches. Another woman wished to go to Greece and see the ancient ruins there and then slowly make her way through Europe. This could take a leisurely period of time, perhaps even a year. Another also wanted to go to Europe but to do other things, such as take gourmet cooking classes in the South of France and become somewhat fluent in several languages. Another woman opted for spas and other experiences to bring vitality to her body and ultimately her spirit. One person was in reality making plans to go to several meditative retreats over the next few months. I was fascinated as each woman spoke and realized two things. First, I would have been a happy companion on any of the presented vacations. Each one sounded fulfilling, energizing and provided a change that would be good for me, as well as the person who thought of it. Secondly, I realized how much each woman, no matter what her background or problems, yearned for change, adventure, getting to know strangers and other places, no matter how burdened by daily problems of relationships, children, money, etc. How unique we all are -- that's for sure! Each vacation was strikingly different from the others, and yet how universal so many of our needs for replenishment are.I hope you'll take a few minutes now that spring has arrived fantasize to day dream about a wonderful vacation that you can create, at least in your mind. Take the adventure. Please pass along your wonderful vacation ideas to us. I know we'll all be stimulated and enjoy our magic carpets! Bon Voyage!Part 2 - A Play Date With Vacation IdeasTake a moment and jot down three fantasy spring or summer vacations you would love to take, if money and time were no object! Where would you go?	Who would go with you? What would you like to do?	How long would you like to be away?	What would you enjoy seeing ... experiencing ... discovering?	What would be the highpoint of your trip?Enjoy your fantasy vacations. If you wish, go further and get some information on these places. Would you like at least one to come true?	What steps would be necessary?I leave the rest up to you -- whether you simply daydream or bring about a new reality I wish you refreshing, fun thoughts..
